DYSTOPIA–Dystopia College legal counsel Fgn Gocha Na is researching “whether ice is legally considered water” after a student water-balloon fight sponsored by Dystopian Student Activities.
Certain “innovations” in water-balloon filling that led to minor injuries provoked the debate. The students responsible for the innovations insist that they followed the rules to the letter, and that ice is merely “a form” of water.
The students injured (knots and bruises resulting ice-filled balloons) insist that the innovators “cheated” and “acted irresponsible” and that “water means water, not steam or ice.”
Student Activities Director John “Happy Jack” Plumber halted the event after the injuries. He said a number of students participated in the event and “good fun was had by all” for the first half hour–before the innovations were introduced. Plumber said he still considers the event of success and hopes to repeat it, though he will “make the rules very clear.”
One of the victims, who didn’t want to be identified (“a little embarrassing, honestly”), said he doesn’t plan to take legal action unless his attorney considers it advisable, but that he hopes the college will take some action to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen again.
“I mean, really, getting wet is kind of fun, but get clobbered with a chunk of ice, not so much,” he said.
